Hi
well there are no guarantees that they will get along.

cats are naturally solitary animals and unless they have been brought up with other animals and cats often don't like the intrusion of a new cat to the home.

If you do decide to get another cat the best thing to do is to take your cats through a introduction process. it may help them to get along but as i say there are no guarantees.

here is the page on my site about this process

best wishes Kate

Kate has done a wonderful job on her "introducing cats". I have had many cats over the years, a lot will depend on the personality of your older cat. I had one cat who lived to be almost 19 and I had 4 others and fostered kittens as well. He would initially grumble for a day or two, then be fine. however when I adopted TJ Mr Marble was 8 yrs and I had a real hard time with them, took a good month before I could leave TJ out with Marble, whereas Hope was OK within a week. Just be very careful, especially since you have such a large male. I hope all goes well for you.
