Matted hair on Cat

My cat has matted fur aound his back legs. He doesn't like me to comb or brush this area but I'm concerned about the condition of his fur. Any suggestions?

Hi yes once the fur has become so matted it is very painful for the cat for you to try and brush the matt out. You will have to either take him to a vet or a groomers who have the specialist tools to do this easily and painlessly. Once this matt is out you will have to try and get your cat used to you brishing the area daily otherwise the matt will return. Please read my pages about grooming as it may give you some tips on hopw to approach the brushing.
