meowing and loss of fur

we have had our cat for nearly two years now, she was a stray kitten when we got her n was in pretty bad shape. she would never meow for the first few months and the vet said it was because he vocal cords had been damaged. but after a few months about once a month she would whine constantly for around two weeks crouched in a weird position, we thought she was just in heat but the past few months she has started to lose her fur around these times to. we took her to the vets and they gave us steroid cream for it but its making it worse. please can some one help?

Hi
fur loss can be caused by several different things from mites, skin allergies or even anxiety.

Your vet should have examined her and given you some possible causes in his opinion as to what he found.

Please see my page here about some common causes of fur loss

Have you noticed your cat grooming a lot? If so this could be a sign of anxiety

If the medication your vet has given you is making it worse then you need to telephone them right away and ask their advice, it may be important that you stop the treatment. but you do need to check with your vet. Also ask them lots of questions about what they think is the actual cause, they may have to do some more tests.

I hope she is better soon

best wishes Kate
