Mother cats

Is it normal stage of development for a queen cat to grab and pin down kittens when they are out of there box, the kittens are nearly 4 weeks old

Answer by Kate
Hi
yes it sounds normal to me. the mother is starting to teach her kittens things like hunting etc and this may well be part of that. She may also be teaching them some discipline i.e this is what happens if you wander too far etc.

It is very unlikely that she will hurt them and often a cats behaviour like this can look rather disturbing to us but is usually noting to worry about.

best wishes KAte
