moving cat by air is it OK?

by Teresa Dickinson
(California)

My mother in-law has died and I want to if it is safe to send her 15-17 year old cat by plane or car to Calif. from Virginia. I know they have to get a health certificate before they can fly out of state and I'm assuming by car. I'm hoping the exam rules out the health certificate even though it is fairly healthy. I think it has a failing bladder. But don't they rule out traveling that far? Thanks

Hi
Unfortunately i cannot advise you as regard to the rules to moving cats in the US. I live in the UK.

However as long as you follow the rules of your state and country etc it should be fine for your cat to fly. there are even special services for animals and i think they get better care than some of the passengers. :)
