moving home and introducing cats to each other

I have a double challenge as I am getting married and each of us have two cats and are moving into a new house. I maybe moving in first as my husband may not be able to relocate until a later date..but that is not set in stone. It will not only be a new house but two new cats to introduce to my two. I am so worried it will be tramatic. Is it okay to get my two cats adjusted first to the new home. Usually with there curious nature this is the easier part I imagine. It maybe not be possible to introduce them to the house he at the same time. What is the preferred option. How should this double challenge be handled?

If at all possible it would be best if your cats could have some time to get used to their new surroundings first. This will lessen any upset they may feel, however they would need several weeks if at all possible.

i have a page on my site about moving with cats which you may find of further interest here

As for introducing the other cats there is a process which allows the cats to settle in without the fear of attack and also to be able to build confidence in the other cats. the process is described here

Don't worry with a little time and patience the cats should be able to settle down eventually altogether. remember cats can pick up on your own anxiety so the calmer you are about the process the calmer they will be.
Best wishes Kate
