Moving home with cat

I am moving into a new home across town and don't want

my cat to run away. I have two questions..

1. How long should I keep the cat inside the house locked
up before I let her out? Answer : it is best to try and keep her in for at least a week pssibly two if possible. However cats are very good at finding there way home if they can semll their own scent so once you do let her out make nsure you leave something outside with her own scent on it.

2. If I put her in a cat carrier/cage does it have to be
totally open or can it be a dog carrier?
Answer: not sure what you mean by this quetion. Any carrier which is secure so she can't get out is fine when moving her to her new home. Put her own blanket in it to make smell of her, this will help her during the trip.

Thanks so much... I am so afraid to loose her.

best wishes Kate Hope I have been able to answer your questions.
