Moving with 1 Kitty from a 3 Kitty Home

by Ash

I just recently moved 12 hours from home with my childhood cat. I've had her since she was only 4 weeks old. She grew up with 2 other cats that were in our house. Now, 6 years later I've separated her from her "brothers." She used to be a very active cat, playing with the other cats and just all around doing things. Now all she seems to do is eat and sleep. I'm worried that she's unhappy and misses the other cats. I would get her a kitty to play with but my landlord only allows 1 cat. We try and play with her, but she only tolerates so much before going back to sleep. Any suggestions or advice?

Hi
well it all depends on the time line here. If you have only recently moved then it would be natural for the cat to feel a little upset and her behavior would suggest that. but this is just a temporary behavior. Its not so much that she needs other cat company it is more to do with the fact that things have changed.

All you can do is give her own space, play with her as much as you always did and make sure that her new environment is as stimulating as possible for her to help distract her from her feelings of uncertainly. See this page for more on this here
