my cat is losing weight and making a funny yamming noise?

my cat is 13 years old and she has lost that much weight you can nearly feel her ribs, and she keeps making a funny noise for no reason. my cat is well fed so i dont understand why she has lost that much weight, she eats her cat meat but she will not eat her cat biscuits. i dont know whats wrong with her please help?..

well as cats get older they do start to lose some condition and may start to look a little thin. However you should not be able to feel her ribs etc. there are a few conditions which can cause this weight loss even though they are eating. Heart conditions, feline diabetes, cancer and thyroid conditions come to mind.

The only way to know for sure is for your vet to do some blood tests. Most of these conditions can be easily treated. Indeed my own old cat had a thyroid problem which was successfully treated. Please see my page about this condition for more information here

I would definitely recommned you take her to see a vet sooner rather than later as the earlier these conditions can be caught the better the out come.
