My cat is very lathargic

He is a 3 year old male orange tom cat and is usually very friendly and social and a lap cat that follows you around all so very affectionate but just recently he stays to himself is very quiet eating little. He seems to sleep alot and definatley freaks out if I pick him up. What could be wrong with my little guy?

It is impossible to say but his behavior does suggest that he is not feeling well. the fact that he does not like being picked up may suggest that it hurts when you do. If this behavior has gone on for more than 3 days then you really do need to take him to see a vet as soon as possible. There is simply no way of knowing what the problem could be without an examination.
