My cat keeps loosing fur

My cat who is now 8 years old keeps going bald. He seems to groom himself and bites the areas (hind legs, feet, legs and tummy. This happens every 2 months...he goes bald then it grows back, then it goes bald again. This has been going on now for over a year. I did take him to the vets but she said not to worry.


The areas dont look red or scabby, just dry. I treat him with frontline regularly so it cannot be fleas.
