My cat keeps taking my sons clothes

My cat goes in the basement everyday and brings up my boys white clothes that he finds.He sits them by the back door.If I pick them up,he goes back in the basement and finds more,then place the clothes back in the same spot.(only white clothes or socks) What does this mean???I'm totally clueless...

i think we are all totally clueless when it comes to what our cats are thinking :)

I can't say why he is choosing these particular items he must just prefer the color. However I used to have a cat who did a similar thing with my things a few years ago. We never did find out what it was really about and it stopped after a while.

All I can think is that its similar to having their own toys, a sort of possession thing. Also these clothes may smell faintly of your son and he may find that comforting.

I don't think it is anything to worry about, and hopefully it will not be a behavior which lasts. Perhaps you could buy him some new cat toys to distract him from this behavior.
