Lately, i noticed that my cat likes to wander outside and refuse to come back to our house. Initially he comes back for his breakfast thereafter he goes wandering outside and in the evening he comes back has his dinner, play for a while and go out again. Now he seldom comes back for his meals

Hi
i have known many cats like this especially male cats. is he neutered?

there may be new cats in the area which he feels may be a threat to his territory and so is out making sure no one tries to take over his patch.

my sisters cat is exactly like this, she only gets to see him in the morning and the evening for meals. thats just the way some cats are.

best wishes Kate

Yes is a male cat and we have not neutered him. Still considering whether it will be the right choice as he is extremely active and likes to go out disturb other cats. will he go out lesser after he is neuter?

Hi
I'm not sure what your concerns are about having him neutered. He will not wander as far as does now, he won't get into fights, he won't father unwanted kittens, there are even some health benefits. he will still be him and as active and have as much fun but he just won't be pumped with all these hormones which can cause aggression, spraying, and frustration etc.

My sister's kitty was like that too and one day never came home. He was young maybe 4 years.....its a risk you run when you let your kitty out.
