Six's left eye, 20 minutes after being cleaned

Hi, I have an 8 month old cat that my boyfriend and I got from our local animal shelter about a month ago, and for the past day or two, his left eye is all goopy with light greyish-white gunk. His eye seems to be running a bit and when we get home from work his eye is all squinty and almost stuck shut. My boyfriend and I can't really afford a vet visit right now, and we were just hoping that there might be a remedy to try while we save up for a vet visit. Do you know what could be wrong with his eye? Will he go blind if we can't get him to the vet soon enough? We've been hoping his eye would clear up on its own, but he's starting to rub at it with his paw and shakes his head around a little bit. The picture of my cat's eye is a little hard to see. Thank you..

Hi
well it is possible that he has an infection in his eye which if left untreated can cause further complications like blindness.

Please see my web page about cat eye problems here

You can try to keep it clean with warm water and a tissue but really he needs to see a vet in case he has scratched his actual eye etc.

best wishes Kate
