new cat and litter issues

My 6week old kitten is having some problems with its toilet habits, it doesnt seem to want to use the litter tray and goes to the toilet under the couch or under the bed, anywhere but the tray!

Also its had some diarrhoea, we took it to the vet and they told us its probably the stress of a new home and gave us some medication and protein diet food, however she has started to cry a lot and is not going to the toilet very often, she keeps licking her bum and I can see that she doesnt want to sit down on her bum very often and seems to "perch" rather than sit.

I feel very sorry for her can you give me some advice please?

Hi sounds as if she may be constipated which is causing her some discomfort. Please see my web page about cat constipation here https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-constipation.html

As for the general litter issue, it can take some time for a new cat to become familiar with the new toilet situation. A little litter training is a good idea as the process requires a period of confinement with the litter tray. this give the cat a smaller apace to become familiar with which is less stressful than having to worry about all the new smells around the home. I have web page about this process here

I hope they settle down soon and that their system settles down to the new routines soon.

best wishes Kate
