new cat urinating everywhere in house

by Gemma

I took in a stray cat afew months ago, it has taken to weeing on rugs and also on beds and on furniture despite still going in its litter tray and going out side.I have taken it to the vets but have been told its in good health. I want to keep the cat but feel frustrated. I dont think the cat ( misty)has been treated well in the past as it is very scared and fliches alot, do you think this may have something to do with it?

Hi
i think this is due to several things, one insecurity i.e is not used to having a home and so is anxious about her changed circumstances and two she is probably marking her territory.

Both behaviors are quite normal.

Please see this page on my website for more information and also you could try the litter training confinement method. It helps a cat to become more confident and get used to using only the litter box.

Also while she is i her room, you will need to throughly clean the whole house including around door frames and chair legs. Then just before you let her out, rub her with a clean towel and then rub the towel around the house, chair legs etc.

best wishes Kate
