Persha - our cat is pooing around the home

by Pat
(United Kingdom)

My cat is 15 months old and an indoor cat. She has always been extremely clean and using her litter tray from a kitten, but just before christmas she started to do her poo's in another room on the carpet. She is still using her litter tray for a wee, so I wondered if you had any ideas as to what we could do to get her back to doing her poo in her litter tray. Thank You.

Christmas can be a time of upset for our pets as things change around the home. decorations, different people, different cooking smells a general different buzz around the place. this can make a cat feel unsettled in their home.

Just like urine cats use their poo as a very strong visual and scent marker to either convey to other animals that this is their territory or it is used to make the home smell more like them and so makes them feel more settled.

Please see my page about this issue, it also has a process on it for re training your cat here is the pagehttps://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-poo.html

best wishes Kate

Pooing in the Bathroom!
by: Sue

MY male is doing the same thing. Only it started befroe the Holidays. When he's going to do it it is always in the same place..... the right side of the toilet! He does this maybe once a month.
Their litter box is cleaned everyday. I can't figure it! I guess pooing in the bathroom is better then urinating at random spots in the house! If you can come up with some kind of reasoning for this.....let me know!
