Runny Poop And Prominent Third Eye

by Beth
(Devon)

My lovely kitten is about 19 weeks old. He is very loving, purrs alot and is playful.

We got him when he was about 9 weeks old, and has been vaccinated and loved ever since! Until recently, he has had very normal poop :)
Lately however, he has started to produce lighter, runny poop with a very small amount of blood in it, I have checked with the 24hour veteriny helpline and have been helped out alot. We are currently trying to deal with his diorrhea but unfortunately i have another concern. My kittens third eye has become very prominent and visible when he is wide awake, my vet suggested that this could be due to a common viral infection passing through. Am i right in thinking that the vaccination has made his immune system vulnerable to a few common problems such as diarrhea?
Is this common? Serious?
Thank you for the help.
Love from proud kitten owner and kitten :) x

In my experience a kitten or cat can sometimes have a few days of feeling slightly unwell after their vaccinations. this may also cause slight diarrhea.
i am not a vet so cannot say for sure about the immune system but it does not make sense for the immune system to be weakened after vaccination. Instead it should stimulate the immune system to start being antibodies to combat the illness, this of course may make the kitten tired etc.

As for the third eyelid, this can be a sign that he does have or is fighting an infection at the moment. your best option is to see how he is after a few more days and if he does not perk up or if the symptoms get worse then take him back to the vets to be on the safe side.
