Scared cat...(

by Deb

Our cat is 6 months old and his scared when people come visit. He runs and hides. We had company all weekend and he stayed hiding. It was the saddest. We thought maybe he would get better after the first night of it but he never did. How do I get him comfortable with people that come over?

Hi
Some cats do take a little longer to feel comfortable with new people. As you know its just a confidence thing.

Basically it is a case of spending a lot of time with your cat and interacting with them via games etc.

Also you need to try and get more people around to your home and ask them to spend a few minutes trying to bond with your cat. the more people he comes in contact with and the better the experiences he has when this happens will help him over come his fear.

It is important that the way new people approach your cat. It has to be on his terms and time line. I have a page about how to bond with your cat and if you can advise your visitors of this technique it will eventually pay dividends. here is the page
