Scared/Sad cat

I just recently moved myself, my husband and my three cats to our new home 2 hours away from our previous apartment. I figured that they would act a little weird for a few days but get used to it. Thats how it was the first time I moved with them.

However they're all acting a bit weird still. They hide in cabinets and behind the toilets, which they didn't do before and Bean(the littlest cat) seems to be really scared all the time.
I'm not really sure what to do. I've given them tons of extra attention this whole week since I haven't started my new job yet but it doesn't seem to help.
Any advice?

It is probably caused by some strange smell in the new apartment that is upsetting them. there may have been a previous animal in the fat or it may just simply be all the strange smells.

I am afraid you may have to clean the fat top to bottom and clean surfaces with a solution of bicarbonate of soda and sprinkle dry bicarb on the carpets etc and leave for an hour or so before vacuuming up. this will hopefully remove most of the smells. then rub the cats scent around the new flat around the door frames etc.

It may also be a good idea to confine your cats to one room for a few days to allow them to get used to a small area first.

best wishes Kate
