scratching floors.

our new cat keeps scratching the kitchen floor, what does this mean?

Answer by kate
When cats scratch floors etc they ae tryng to find a place to go to the toilet. Does he do it near hs litter tray, if so he may be geting a little confused. perhaps he smell his litter tay and thinks he is in it.

The only other option is that he is trying to sharpen his claws. It very much depends on what the floor type is. if it is carpet or something rugh he may be using it to sharpen his claws.

best wishes kate

Cat Scratching floor

Your answer made sense to me since our cat was a stray and lived outside I presume. Our cat will scratch the slick floor immediately after she eats the moist cat food but never after she eats the dry food. Thanks for your help.

Cat Scratching Kitchen Floor
by: Anonymous

Hi. I have 10 cats and some of them scratch the kitchen floor net to their plate of food when they either don't like the flavor that I gave them or after they eat and there is still food left. I read somewhere that it is what cats used to do in the wild. The would cover food up to save it for later. I'm not sure if this applys to your cat, but it's an idea.
