Scratching round her food

Why does my cat scratch at the floor and wall around her food bowl?

Answer by Kate
Cats use scratching for several things, to keep their claws in good condition, to exercise and strengthen their toes and to mark territory.

in this instance because the food bowl is her area and her territory she could be scratching around it to mark the area to let others know, keep off this is mine.

Even if you do not have other animals cats will still display this behaviour, it is a natural instinct.

best wishes Kate
