Senior Cat and Mothering.

I have an elderly female cat named Ares. lately she's been taking small toys around our house and hiding them in random places. She coos to them like they are her "babies". She's not fixed. She's never had a litter. She's never seen outside. I don't think she's ever seen another cat. Is this behaviour normal or should we take her to a vet?

Hi, no this sounds normal to me. Instinct could be playing a big part here or she may be going through a hormonal change due to her age.

i really wouldn't worry too much at all. I have had male cats do what you describe, as i say i think it is mainly instinct.

best wishes Kate
