Shaved cat now urinating everywhere

by Jeff B

Our 11 year old Himalayan was very litter trained. We took her to a groomer to have her shaved due to some matting. Since we got her back, she has been urinating everywhere. Also, her whiskers got cut in half at the grounded. Any advice?

First of all how on earth did she loose half her whiskers? Surely the groomers didn't do it on purpose?

Any way it sound to be like her behavior could be trigger by anxiety. Cats will use their urine to help recent their home which in turn helps them to feel secure and safe again ie helps to calm them down.

There are some treatments you can buy which help to calm cats down during stressful periods. see this page for more on anxious cats

I would think that this was a temporary issue which will stop once she has relaxed again. It may be worth taking her through the re training litter process again as this too can help to calm cats down see this page for more on this process.
