side of effects after vaccinations

Dear Kate,

I had my kitten vaccinated for the first time. the day after his shots, he's been slow, sickly and eats little. He also had diarrhea. He's been like this for at least three days now. I called my vet and he told me this was "normal" reaction, but he's lost some weight and he looks depressed. what can I do? He's drinking water...

yes some cats do have a reaction to the vaccinations, its sort of like flu symptoms. they feel tired, probably achey and do go off their food etc. the symptoms do generally wear off after a few days.

the fact that he is drinking is a very good sign.

if after 5 days he is still not eating then I would contact the vet again.
