Sleeping cat

I was wondering how I can train my cat to sleep on a cat bed, or blanket at the foot of my bed as opposed to him sleeping right next to me which is causing me disrupted sleep? Hope you can help.

Umm I don't know if anyone has ever trained a cat to sleep where we want them to. But gentle persuasion may pay off eventually.

Put the bed at the base of your bed. Make sure it contains something which smells of your cat, an old blanket or toy or you could even rub your cat with a clean cloth and then rub the bed with it.
then when he tries to sleep next to you, quietly pick him and put him in the bed and stroke him. If he settles down give him some more pats etc. If he gets out, do not say or do anything apart from repeat the process. this could go on for some time and may take several weeks before he gets it (if ever, fingers crossed).

It may be helpful to read my page about cat discipline which talks about the negative and positive responses which help cats to learn.
