This cat was alone in the woods for two months.

Ok, our cat has been contiuously licking herself, which we wouldnt find so strange, except for the fact that her saliva is a brownish color. It drips from her mouth and stains everything it touches. She hasn't been treated for worms since we got her back and she has been doing this the whole time. We are very concerned but couldn't get to our vet due to weather that cancelled her appointment last Tuesday. I hope you can help us and for the meantime we are going to try to hive her a bath.

Hi
If her saliva is brown in color i am wondering if it is either something coming from her stomach or she has an injury in her mouth and this is blood which is coloring her saliva.

unfortunately there is not much you can do medically until you can get her to the vets.

Keep her comfortable and make sure there is plenty of fresh water available for her to drink.

If you think she needs a bath (which should only be done if her fur is very soiled) then please make sure that it is as stress free and as quick as possible so that any possible injury or illness is not made worse in any way.

i have a page about cat bathing which you may find of further interesting

Your best option is to try and get your cat to see a vet urgently. they should be able to see her as an urgent case, especially if one appt has already been canceled.

I hope your cat is better soon.

best wishes Kate
