Two bengal cats fighting

by Steve
(West Virginia)

We have two bengal cats. One is about 18 months and the other is 9 months. The older cat at first took a while to get use to having another kitten in the house. They would hiss and growl for about the first two weeks or so. Then they started playing together, bathing each other, sleeping beside one another. All is well. Just today our youngest cat got fixed and when we brought her home they now seem to be afraid of each other again. Hissing and very timid. Is this normal? we were told that the cat that just got fixed may have a different smell and be scaring the other cat. They are both females. Thank for your help

Hi
yes this is a common issue. Basically the kitten smells differently and this had frightened your older cat and she is reacting with aggression. the behavior is called aggression truama. Please see this page for more information on this and how to help your cats get along again
