urinating cat after new kitchen installed.

why would my cat pee in the kitchen when we just got finished remodeling it...Could my cat have lost the old scents in the house and is trieing to get them back by peeing?

cats can get stressed out by change and the classic behavior is to urinate everywhere to try and make the home smell like him which is comforting to them. yes it could be that he has lost his scent and is trying to put it back.
Rub a towel over him and then rub the towel over the new kitchen, bottom of doors and tables etc. It may help him to feel at home again.
