Vashti My First Personal Cat

Vashti is my first personal cat. Never did I plan to have a cat for my own. My cousin had three cats that I came to know pretty well. One of them was brought home from Maine by her daughter from summer camp. He is quite elderly by now. What a wonderful cat he is. I always said if I ever find a cat like him, I would adopt it. I had a dog, and was thinking of adopting a cat, so I would look at cats that were up for adoption. I preferred a cat rather than a kitten. One day I said to my cousin, let's go to the shelter to see the cats. Well there she was. She was very confident and friendly, just like my cousins cat. She looked so much like him. So she came home with me. I almost named her Java, because she is a black long hair. But I named her Vashti after the Persian Queen who refused to come when the King summoned her. Seemed fitting for a cat. She is wonderful beyond words, and she is a great Queen to her dog. She is sleeping on me as I write this.
