why is my pregnant cat being aggressive to her 3 month old kittens

Answer by Kate
This is a completely normal and natural reaction.

Cats do not have the same emotional ties to their kittens as we do to our children. they are driven by instinct and territory and food.

So your cat is preganant, she knows she will have to bring up a new litter of cats who will need food etc. in nature this means that she does not want any other cats around, she wants to make sure that her new litter gets all the food and territory etc. So she is now trying to drive away her 3 month old kitten, so that he does not compete for food or territory.

it is very soon for your cat to have gotten pregnant again, too many litters too close will make her weak and her kittens sick and weak too.

i don't know if you have considered having spayed once the next litter is weaned around 8 weeks of so but it would benefit her and her health as well as preventing any more kittens to be born.

Also the kittens can become pregnant between 4 and 6 months, so you will have to consider having them spayed also otherwise you could end up with a big problem on your hands trying to fed them all.

best wishes Kate
