Will cats jump from a 4 story patio?

I am thinking about getting a cat but the only place I have for the litter box is out on my patio. I live on the fourth floor and want to know if cats are smart enough not to jump from this height.

unfortunately there is no definite answer to this. Cats do have a lot of sense but accidents can happen i.e jumping up and missing there footing etc.

I would say that yes cats generally have the sense not to jump from high places but I would not like to risk it. There are many cases of cats falling from heights.
